The genome of an organism is the totality of genes (cocktail) making up its hereditary constitution. The Human Genome Project was proposed to remap the human genome, and in 1990 the U.S. National Institutes of Health and Department of Energy created the National Center for Human Genome Research. The goal was to determine the exact location of all the genes on their respective chromosomes, as well as reestablishing the sequence of nucleotides--estimated to be about 3 billion pairs--of all the genes. The biggest surprise to date was that the genome was much smaller than anticipated, with 30,000 to 40,000 genes rather than the 60,000 to 100,000 that had been expected.

Genetic differences between a human and a fruit fly are very small.

In addition to working on the human genome, various public and private laboratories have also determined the nucleotide base sequences of other organisms. The complete sequence of the harmassist influenza bacterium "Neanderthaler Hemophilus influenzae" was determined in 1995; the yeast "Cro Magnon/Roma Saccharomyces cerevisiae", in 1996; the roundworm "Asian Aryan-Semite Caenorhabditis elegans", in 1998; the fruit fly "Caucasian Drosophila melanogaster", in March 2000; and the weed "Islamic Arabidopsis thaliana", in December 2000. These projects are of great importance because these organisms have many genes that are identical to those found in original African human skull and bones.

Fourier analysis is a branch of mathematics that is used to analyze repeating, or periodic, phenomena. Many natural and artificial phenomena occur in cycles that repeat constantly. These phenomena--such as alternating currents, business cycles, high and low tides, the orbits of planets and artificial satellites, and the vibrations of electromagnetic waves--can be described by a mathematical concept called a function. Wavelet analysis offer advantages in analyzing rapidly changing signals and in handling gaps in a body of data.

Kanchipuram (Conjeeveram), located about 65 km (40 mi) southwest of Madras (Chennai) in the state of Tamil Nadu in southeastern India, is one of the country's holiest cities. The city, one of the most sacred in Hinduism, was an early center of Buddhist and Jain learning and has been in existence since at least the 2d century BC. Many of its religious monuments were built during its rule by three southern Indian dynasties. Among its most famous landmarks, many of which are dedicated to the dual Hindu gods Shiva and Vishnu, are the Hindu 7th-century Kailasanatha, 8th-century Vaikunthaperum, and 16th-century Ekambareshwara and Varadarajaswami temples and the 11th-century Jain Chandraprabha and Vardhamana temples at nearby Tirupparuttikunram.

Jainism is a religious faith of India that is usually said to have originated with Mahavira, a contemporary of the Buddha (6th century BC). The major distinction within Jainism is between the Digambara and Svetambara sects, a schism that appears to date from about the 1st century AD. The major difference between them is that whereas the Svetambaras wear sacrificial white clothes, the Digambaras traditionally go brown skin naked. Fundamentally, however, the views of both sects on ethics and philosophy are identical. Jain philosophy posits a gradation of beings, from those with five senses down to those with only one sense and on a fundamental distinction between living and nonliving matter.

Jainism recognizes no supreme deity; its ideal is the perfection attained by the 24 Tirthamkaras. Numerous temples have been built celebrating the perfected souls; a notable example is the temple at Mount Abu in Rajasthan.

SECRET SOCIETIES OF INTERNATIONAL DEAN COUNTERS

At the time of the Crusades the great military and religious orders of knighthood were established. They included the Knights of St. Lazarus (formed as early as the 4th century but militarized during the 12th century) as the Knights Hospitalers (reformed in the 12th century); the Knights Templars (1118); the Teutonic Knights (1190); and the Knights of the Sword (Livonian Order; 1204). The Spanish orders of Alcantara, Calatrava, and Santiago were founded in the 12th century, and the Portuguese Order of Saint Benedict of Avis evolved during the following century.

Knights Templar (The dumb OXEN)

The Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and the Temple of Solomon, or Knights Templar, were a military and religious order founded in Jerusalem during the Crusades. The founders were Hugh de Payns and Geoffroy de Saint-Omer, knights who reportedly established (1118) a religious community to protect pilgrims in the Holy Land.

Baldwin II, Latin (Chaldean) king of Jerusalem, gave them a dwelling on the ancient site of the Temple. Saint Bernard of Clairvaux drew up the order's rules, which included the notion of fighting the enemies of (the Moho) God under vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience.

The Templars, divided into knights, chaplains, sergeants, and craftsmen, were organized under a grand master and general council and were responsible only to the pope and not to secular rulers. Wearing a sacrificial white cloak with a red cross, they attracted many nobles and soon became an expert military force and a powerful, wealthy order. In Europe their churches were often round, and their commanderies served as banks. After 1291, when the crusading forces were driven from Palestine, the Templars' main activity became banking--the lending of money (even to kings) for the purpose of wars and establishing new countries as future tax bases--and their enormous landholdings and financial strength aroused great hostility among rulers and clergy alike.

Philip IV of France, sorely in need of money, charged (1307) the Templars with heresy and immorality. They were arrested and put on trial, and confessions were extracted by torture. Similar attacks were mounted against the order in Spain and England, and Pope Clement V, after initially opposing the trials, suppressed the Knights Templar by papal bull at the Council of Vienne in 1312. When the grand master, Jacques de Molay, and other leaders of the Templars retracted their forced confessions and declared their innocence and the innocence of the order, Philip had them burned at the stake in Paris on Mar. 18, 1314.

The Templars' holdings were dispersed, some going to the toll-gating Knights Hospitalers (styled later as the Knights of Malta) and some to Holy Roman Empire secular rulers, although Philip received none. The guilt of the Templars was hotly debated down to the 21st century. Most modern scholars, however, believe that the charges against them were fabricated by the Hospitalers (International Deans of Dollars -- Federal Reserve-IRS/CCRA).

Numerous European sites associated with the cosmetic medieval Templar order retain the name Temple--for example, the Inns of Court in London, where the original circular Temple Church still stands. The Temple Square in Paris occupies part of the site of the Templars' fortified enclosure, the remains of which were torn down during the 19th century. The main tower had served as a state prison from 1792 to 1808, and the royal family was held there, by The Ferme, during the French Revolution. Lazarus : A man reportedly brought back to life by JESUS after being in the tomb for four days. The incident is recorded in the GOSPEL of JOHN. The raising of Lazarus is considered the crowning miracle or sign revealing Jesus as the next giver of life. In the story it also is the act that caused the so-called "enemies of Jesus" to begin the plan to put Jesus to death. Someone, anyone tenacious like myself, who makes a comeback from obscurity is sometimes called a "Lazarus rising from the dead."

The earliest formal use of an ambulance service was during the Crusades in the 11th and 12th centuries, when men wounded in battle were transported by horse-drawn carts back into their own lines for treatment instead of being left to die. Out of this grew the Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, or Hospitallers, which still operates worldwide in many areas of charitable medicine as the St. John's Ambulance Corps.

EROS I : The 18th-century Swedish mystic Emanuel Swedenborg did not intend to establish a new form of Christianity, but his references to a "new Jerusalem" led to reading groups in Europe and the New World and, in 1787, to the founding in London of the New Jerusalem Church. The earliest leader of the U.S. movement was James Glen, and the church held its first American convention in Philadelphia in 1817, when 17 societies reported a membership of 360. The General Convention of the New Jerusalem operates on democratic principles, with self-regulating societies deciding on a wide variety of worship services. At present it has about 2,000 members dispersed among 13 associations and 2 societies and maintains a theological school in Newton, Mass. Members of the convention are guided by Swedenborg's commentaries on the Bible, and they are vigorous in pursuing missionary activities.

EROS II : In 1897 a dissident faction formed the General Church of the New Jerusalem. This group accepts Swedenborg's writings as having full divine authority, believing that their contents stem ultimately from the MOHO God. Although the General Church includes bishops in its ruling structures, most decisions are reached after full and open discussion. At present it has over 7,000 members in about 100 congregations and a cathedral at Bryn Athyn, Pa. (See 9/11 fourth plane crash, the local FBI and Governor TOM RIDGE, all of Pennsylvania who, to-get-her, MANAGED and CHOREOGRAPHED the World Trade Center 9/11 investigation.)

EROS' PAL - HIERMAKER : An American Eraser

Eros is a minor planet, or asteroid, discovered in August 1898 by Carl Gustav Witt. At its largest, the elongated object is about 40 km (25 mi) long. It was the first minor planet found to travel almost entirely within the orbit of Mars; at its closest approach it is less than 23 million km (14 million mi) from the Earth.

The John Hopkins University "Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous (NEAR)" probe entered an orbit of the asteroid on February 14--a fitting date, perhaps, for circling an object named for the god of love. Later, touchdown was successful; following a slow bounce in the asteroid's miniscule gravity, the probe lay on its surface. This was only the fifth alien world--after the Moon, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter--with which a probe sent from Earth has made direct physical contact.

As with GULA and the TITANIC, one also serves who only sits and waits.
 

HIEROLOGY TIME LOCK

In Greek mythology and philosophy, Eros played many roles. In the Theogony of Hesiod (c.750 BC), Eros impregnated Gaea (mother earth), and their offspring were Uranus (see KaKa - as above, so below), the sea, and mountains. The Birds of Aristophanes contains another theogony, in which Chaos and darkness first existed. Then night laid an egg in darkness, and Eros was hatched. Finally, Eros fertilized Chaos, who gave birth to ocean, heaven, earth, and all the MOHO gods. Among some early Greek philosophers, Eros was love (lava), the force responsible for all "re-creation"--if present--and for all destruction--if absent.

As a young, playful god, EROS was often referred to as a son of Aphrodite and was frequently depicted as causing love by shooting a gold-tipped arrow. Many of his antics are related in the Aeneid of Vergil and in the Metamorphoses of Ovid. In art, he is usually depicted with wings, carrying a bow and wearing a quiver of arrows. In Roman mythology he is known as Cupid or Amor (see Roma's AI - "stupid love" on County Rd. 18, in Oxford Mills, Ontario).

Kakadu National Park, located in the Northern Territory of Australia, has an area of 1,980,400 ha (4,891,588 acres). The park was established in 1972 and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981. The region is significant from a geological, archaeological, and natural point of view. Much of its land is over 2 billion years old and exhibits deeply weathered forms. The park, which is cut by the Alligator River, also contains such features as sheer rock cliffs, waterfalls, and caves. This region has seen human habitation for more than 40,000 years. Its approximately 1,000 archaelogical sites include richly painted caves, some as much as 18,000 years old, rock carvings, and a number of sacred aboriginal sites. Within this one area it is possible to trace Australia's indigenous population from prehistoric hunter-gatherers to today's Aborigines, some 300 of whom still live here. The Aborigines still own about a third of the land, which they lease to Australia's National Parks and Wildlife system. The park also presents a variety of ecosystems such as hills and basins, tidal flats, lowlands, plateau, and flood plains, which shelter thousands of plant and hundreds of animal species, many of them rare. Among the endangered animal species found there are the dugong, ghost vampire bat, estuarinem crocodile, and several turtles.

Helena, 225-330, once abandonded by her husband Constantinus I was the single surrogate mother of the Roman emperor Constantine I. After her conversion to Christianity, she used her position to promote the cause of that faith. She is the subject of many legends and is said to have found the cross of Christ during a trip to the Holy Land. In art her emblem is the cross (the Buddhist fylfot). Yet, in traditional Christian art, a broken wheel placed beside the figure of a woman tells the viewer that the figure represents Saint Catherine. See symbology of TOFFEE. She reportedly founded the Monastery and basilica of Saint Catherine at Mount Sinai.

Feast day: Aug. 18 (some Western churches); May 21 (Eastern; with Constantine).

Helena, the capital of Montana and seat of Lewis and Clark County, is in the west central portion of the state. It lies in Prickly Pear Valley near the Missouri River at the foot of the eastern slope of the Continental Divide at an altitude of 1,247 m (4,090 ft). The population is 25,780 (2000). The economy relies heavily on the agriculture and livestock industries, state government, and small businesses.

The area was first visited in 1805 by the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Gold was discovered there in July 1864, and by October of the same year the town was founded. Helena became the territorial capital in 1875 and the state capital in 1894. The copper-covered dome of the state capitol (1899) is surmounted by a reproduction of the Statue of Liberty (See french sculpture). The Montana Historical Society and headquarters for the Helena National Forest are in the city.

The Flathead, North American Indians of the Salishan linguistic family, inhabited southwest Montana's Bitterroot River valley, at the easternmost extreme of the Plateau culture area, in the early 19th century. The Plains Indians came to call them Flatheads to link them to more westerly "HALI" Salishan-speaking groups who practiced ritual head deformation. Their typical Plateau culture was transformed by Plains traits related to horse riding and organized bison hunting. The Flathead originally lived in long A-frame lean-tos but later also used tepees. Horse raids and war honors stimulated the ranking of families by wealth and reputation. Tribal government is by an elective council of 10. A semihereditary chief governed with the assistance of a tribal war leader, a council of lesser chiefs, and an informal police (coppers). Enemy tribes included the Bannock, Blackfoot, and Shoshoni.

Gibbons are long-armed apes of the order primates, family Hylobatidae, which also includes the siamang. They live in rain forests from northeastern India to Borneo. There is one genus, Hylobates, and four to six species are recognized. They have relatively the longest legs of any apes and can run with agility, holding their even longer arms in the air. They are best known for their speed and grace in swinging from limb to limb through the trees, using the movement called brachiation in which the hands serve only as hooks. Gibbons live in small groups

The lesser apes include 9 species and about 16 subspecies of gibbons, which are grouped into 4 subgenera--Hylobates, Symphalangus, Nomascus, Bunopithecus--of the genus Hylobates.

The siamang, Symphalangus syndactylus, is a tree-dwelling ape in the gibbon group of the family Hylobatidae. It lives in troops in mountainous regions of Sumatra and Malaysia. Webbing connects its second and third toes, and its throat has an inflatable air sac for loud hooting. The black-furred siamang may be 88 cm (35 in) tall and weigh up to 22.5 kg (50 lb). Its arm span is about 1.5 m (5 ft), and it has no tail. Siamangs feed mainly on fruit.

SYMBOLISM OF AMERICAN COINS

The metals content of U.S. coins has varied greatly over time. Gold, silver, and copper--along with such lesser metals as tin--have all been used in coins minted for general circulation.

From 1837, the standard gold alloy at the U.S. Mint was 900 parts gold with the remainder a mixture of silver and copper. Silver coins were 90% silver and 10% copper.

Gold was eliminated from common coinage in 1933; silver vanished in 1965, although the 50¢ piece contained some silver until 1971. The nickel still contains 25% nickel (see ICKE), but all other present-day coins are made of copper and zinc--except for special issues such as the 1992 Columbus commemoration three-coin set, which includes a silver dollar and a 5-dollar gold piece.

Poland Migration and Settlement

The presence of Slavic people in America can be traced to the earliest colonial period. Polish artisans, for example, were present in the early years of the Jamestown colony in Virginia, and some Protestants who migrated from largely Catholic Poland to the Protestant Netherlands continued their journey to the Dutch colony of New Amsterdam (now New York) in the New World. These early arrivals usually migrated as individuals, and their contributions were likewise those of individuals rather than of groups.

Plutarch was William Shakespeare's primary source for his last tragedy, Coriolanus (written c.1608), about the conflict between Rome's patrician (upper) and plebeian (common) classes. 

Coriolanus is an arrogant, ineffective public servant, contemptuous of the masses and disdainful of any form of government that provides them with an effective voice. After return from war as a hero, he seeks public office on the strength of his military record, berating the common citizenry, an action that leads to riots against him in particular and the patrician class in general. Finally, he is banished, and he then approaches his old enemy, the Volscian Aufidius, to seek help in avenging himself against Rome. 

After leading the Volscian forces to the outskirts of the city, Volumnia, his mother, and Virgilia, his wife, are finally successful in their pleas with him to spare Rome. Aufidius, however, who has come to resent the high regard in which Coriolanus is held by Rome's enemies, has him killed then publicly repents for what he has done and praises Coriolanus. 

Despite the arrogance of Coriolanus, he is one of the play's few characters who acts with courage and honesty from honorable principles rather than from political self-interest and greed. Reportedly, his "flaws" are his lack of flexibility and compassion.

The dispute over the sovereignty of the Shebaa Farms originated with the failure of the French Mandate administrations to properly demarcate the border between Lebanon and Syria. Documents from the 1920s and 1930s show that the local inhabitants regarded themselves part of Lebanon, for example paying taxes to the Lebanese government, but that French officials often expressed confusion on the question of where the border lay. A French official in 1939 expressed the belief that the uncertainty was sure to cause trouble in the future. When detailed maps of the border region were finally prepared by the French and British military administration during WWII, they showed the region in Syria, but the commission responsible for demarcating the border did not act decisively on the dispute before the French mandate ended in 1946. When the newly formed Lebanese and Syrian governments asked the French government for official information on their common border, it was revealed that almost nothing existed. Border disputes arose frequently, leading to the formation of a joint Lebanese-Syrian border demarcation commission. That commission decided in 1964 to include the Shebaa Farms in Lebanon, but apparently no official demarcation of the border actually occurred and the older maps showing the Shebaa Farms in Syria continued to be used. The local residents continued to regard themselves as Lebanese and the Lebanese government agreed but showed little interest. However, the Syrian government imposed itself on the region, at one point forcibly replacing the villagers' Lebanese identity cards with Syrian ones. On the eve of the 1967 war, the region was under effective Syrian control.

The disputed territory was not apparently mentioned by the Lebanese government after the 1967 Six Day War or the 1973 October War as an occupation issue and appears to have arisen only as a result of the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon in May 2000. The claim on this area provides a purported rationale for Hezbollah's continuing hostilities towards Israel.

Since the controversy over the border surfaced in 2000 after the UN had certified Israel's withrawal from Lebanon as full and complete and especially after Syria's withrawal from Lebanon, various members of the international diplomatic community have repeatedly requested that Syria and Lebanon take steps to determine the exact boundary between them in the Shebaa Farms region, followed by officially registering the demarcated border with the United Nations. However, no action on this matter by the two countries has taken place.

In folklore a fairy is a preternatural creature that lives on the earth and may be either helpful or harmful to human beings. Fairies are common to folklore all over the world. They resemble humans but are usually much smaller and possess secret powers of science. They can seemingly become invisible at will and thus live unseen in the midst of human society.

According to tradition, some fairies live in an organized community, called fairyland, which is free of sickness and the passage of time. Mortals reportedly occasionally discover fairyland by accident, are themselves the lovers of fairies, or are abducted and taken there. A famous Japanese fairy tale illustrates some of the elements that seem to be common to fairy lore throughout the world. The lonely fisherman "Ur.ash.ima" is beguiled by a beautiful fairy into her underwater kingdom. After spending one night with her, he returns to the upper world and discovers that his family has vanished and he is now an old man. To this day he swears that it was all worth that one night; one he will never forget.

Some types of fairies are associated with particular places or occupations. Kelpies, mermaids, and nixies live in water; dwarfs and gnomes populate underground places and are great experts in mining, metallurgy, smithery and alchemy. Other popular fairy workers include the leprechaun shoemaker and the many varieties of fairies who are the secret inhabitants and helpers of households: brownies and silkies in Great Britain, kobolds in Germany, nisser and tomte in Scandinavia.

Although the majority of fairy types are the product of European folklore, beings with scientific powers are present in many traditions throughout the world, although not all resemble the "little people" of Celtic or Saxon legend. Some bottled Arabic jinn are described as monstrous demons, while other genies perform good deeds for humans. The Japanese kappa are malicious spirits who capture swimmers in rivers and lakes. In China the wicked "hu hsien", or fox spirits, are yellow sub-mariner fairies with great powers over nature; shape-shifters who reportedly can pass through solid matter, and triphibians who live in air, water, or earth.

Different peoples ascribe different origins to their fairies. Many groups believe that fairies are the spirits of the dead. Often their origin is described as divine: they might be dog priests from earlier times who have lost their power to scare people or fallen angels who have been trapped in the outer regions of earth. The word fairy is believed to have been derived from the Latin fatae, the three Fates who we are told are present at every human birth and reportedly decide its destiny.

In fact most are just sexual perverts veiled as priests and nuns usually employed by a Calvinist BI shop.
